The Delhi pitch as expected has been low and slow and has assisted the spinners, which is playing into the hands of the Chennai Super Kings.
The Delhi Capitals got off to a good start, with Shaw taking on the bowlers and Dhawan giving him support. But early on, there were signs of the pitch slowing up and balls were not coming on to the batsman.

Dhawan and Iyer struggled to get the scoring rate up on when the spinners started to strangle them and Iyer fell to Tahir trying to force the issue. Once Rishabh Pant came to the crease, he started playing his shots from ball one, making it look like an easy pitch to bat on. The 14th over which Bravo bowled went for 17 runs which was expected to be the point where the Delhi Capitals push on an get a big score. Bravo came back very well in his next over picking up the dangerous Pant and Ingram, who later came back to pick up Dhawan as well who scored 51 runs. From there on CSK didn't let Delhi get lose restricting them to 147.
In return, CSK started of briskly in spite of losing Rayudu early, with both Watson and Raina smashing the ball to all parts. With CSK comfortably positioned at 98 in 10.2 overs when Raina fell following Watson, they were expected to stroll along to a win. But the DC spinners managed to put the breaks on with Jadhav and Dhoni finding it difficult to rotate the strike. Tension started to build up when the game started to get to the wire, but as always Dhoni managed to hit a maximum just at the right time in the 19th over which brought it down to 2 to win off the last over and it was never going to be tough from there.
