This big decision has come of after "misinformation" about the product’s safety amid a barrage of legal challenges.

As per a BBC report, J&J faces more than 19,000 lawsuits from consumers claiming its talc products caused cancer due to contamination with asbestos. Currently, many cases are pending before a U.S. district judge in New Jersey, because of these cases, the U.S. healthcare company has decided to stop the sale.

In responses to all the cases, J&J claimed that it “remains steadfastly confident in the safety of talc-based Johnson’s Baby Powder,” as they have done decades of scientific studies on it. J&J has repeatedly stated that its talc products are safe and they do not cause cancer.

Meanwhile, the company in its statement said that “Demand for talc-based Johnson’s Baby Powder in North America has been declining due in large part to changes in consumer habits and fueled by misinformation around the safety of the product and a constant barrage of litigation advertising,” J&J said.
